This café is a hidden French gem on Old Street in Philipsburg. It's small but welcoming. The owner was very accommodating in seating us at a table with a cool breeze. It was a hot day in Sint Maarten. Especially after walking about 3 miles on a sightseeing exploration around Great Bay Beach. It was time for lunch and the reviews looked promising. We ordered 2 baguette sandwiches. I'd read that they were very good here. The Google reviews were correct. The ham & cheese was delicious. The baguette was amazingly fresh. I wish I could have brought the rest back with me to the ship. It was a very large portion. Who said the French give small portions? Definitely not here. Half of my husband's chicken sandwich was gone before I could even take a picture of it. He said it was very tasty. I thought about getting some coffee after hearing one of his regular customers comment that it's the best in the area. We just didn't want to get overheated again. The service was great! We received our sandwiches in a good amount of time. The owner was very hospitable and kind. It's in one of the colorful houses that you see on Old Street. The scenery in this breezy passageway is very charming and full of bright colors. I'd return again whenever in Philipsburg.
We stopped here for lunch being completely new to Sint Maarten. The atmosphere on old street in general and at The French Touch was lovely. The host/owner is very devoted to his craft and does it very well. The coffee was incredible and so was the food. We had the red tuna salad, the quiche and split a goat cheese sandwich. Highly highly recommend.
5 stars: I’ve been coming to St Maarten for years as I have family here. I never stopped here until I ran into my relatives eating here. I decided to come back the next day. What I like most is they serve healthy options. They also have vegan and vegetarian options as well. They have inside and outside seating. The owner always seems to be on sight and deeply invested in the business. The food is AWESOME and the prices are very fair. The serve breakfast, lunch and drinks. We had the Ahi Tuna which is served either a seaweed salad. You can have potatoes or French fries as well. They were very courteous and they do also take credit cards. They are open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Last service is at 3:30 pm. They are closed on Sunday. I would highly recommend them for a great breakfast or lunch.
